MFL MarMac golfers continue to top leaderboard

The MFL MarMac boys golf team continued its early season success last week, topping the leaderboard at three more meets.
The Bulldogs edged South Winneshiek 163-169 in the Upper Iowa Conference dual opener on April 14. Senior Ben Krambeer shot a 38, and was the meet medalist. Teammate Quinn McGeough finished two shots back, with a 40, while Jarett Hanson placed fifth with a 42 and Wesley Corlett earned a 43 for seventh place. Will Miller and Dayne Anderson rounded out MFL MarMac’s scores with a respective 46 and 50, which was good for ninth and 12th place.
On April 15, MFL MarMac turned in a team score of 158, winning a triangular over Waukon’s 163 and Postville’s 222. Krambeer and McGeough finished one-two for the second straight meet, as Krambeer lowered his score to a 36 and McGeough a 37. Three more Bulldogs landed in the top 10, with Hanson tying for sixth with a 42, Jaron Wille putting up a 43 for eighth place, then Corlett tying for ninth with a 44. Miller shot a 49, placing him in a tie for 14th.
The Bulldogs concluded the week with a 156-177 Upper Iowa Conference victory over North Fayette Valley at Tri City Golf Course on April 17. Krambeer was meet medalist for the third time that week, after shooting a 37, and Hanson was runner-up for the first time with a 38. McGeough rounded out the top three with a score of 39. Wille secured fifth place after a round 42, and Jaxon Lamborn shot a 43 to tie for sixth. Corlett was right behind him with a 44, which was good for ninth place.
Now 17-1 overall and 2-0 in the conference, MFL MarMac headed to New Hampton on April 22, then will wrap up this week at Central on April 24.
