The MFL MarMac girls and boys soccer teams lost close matches to Clayton Ridge on April 21.
The Eagles bested the lady Bulldogs 2-0 to start the night, scoring the first goal over 20 minutes into the game, then the second almost 20 minutes into the second half. Clayton Ridge goalie Amyra Millard recorded one save against MFL MarMac.
In the boys game, Clayton Ridge edged MFL MarMac 3-2. The Bulldogs struck early in the first half on a Parker Kuehl goal, but the Eagles evened the score just over 16 minutes into the game on a corner kick that deflected off Bulldog goalie Carsten Pester’s hands, then went up 2-1 just before halftime.
MFL MarMac knotted the score 2-2 early in the second half on another goal by Kuehl, before Clayton Ridge again capitalized on a corner kick to gain the 3-2 advantage.
Kuehl took three of MFL MarMac’s seven shots on goal. Bryce Jones aimed for the net twice, while Carter Lightfoot and Brent Roe each had one shot.
The losses dropped the girls to 0-7 and the boys to 3-3. After an April 28 girls match with North Fayette Valley was postponed due to weather, the teams were back in action April 29 versus Postville. The girls will play in a tournament at Richland Center, Wis., on May 3.
