Steel Magnolias takes Wauzeka on a southern-tinged journey

The curtain raised for Wauzeka-Steuben’s rendition of Steel Magnolias this past week.
The play held shows at the Joseph Doll Gymnasium on April 25-27. Shows began at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday.
The production is based on the 1987 play by Robert Harling, who also adapted the story into a hit film in two years later starring Sally Field, Dolly Parton and Daryl Hannah.
Through 18 scene changes, nearly 20 students brought Harling’s story to life for audiences.
The cast includes:
Molli Hooker as M’Lynn Eatenton, Olivia Colson as Shelby Eatenton Latcherie, Devyn Allert as Johnathon Eatenton, Nathaniel Walz as Tommy Eatenton, Dakota Cox as Jackson Latcherie, Brooke Mitchell as Truvy Jones, Elyse Sims as Annelle Dupuy Desoto, Violet Mitchell as Clairee Belcher, Theodore Millin as Drum Eatenton, Sophia Walz as Ouiser Boudreaux, Wyatt Mullikin as Sammy Desoto, Avery Killburg as Nancy Beth Marmillion, Claudia Walz as Belle Marmillion, Julius Cooley as Spud Jones, Rayne Cullen as Aunt Fern, Jazzmine Walters as Janice Van Meter, Serena Gianfrancesco as Owen Jenkins, Mallory McCullick as Doctor and Ava Roth as Bonnie.
The production team included Producer Dr. Gary Albrecht, Director Shawn Zeeh, Assistant Director Shannon Millin, Music Director Perry Leffler, Sound Designer Derek Flansburgh, Emma Steinhorst on lights, music by William Zander and hair and makeup by Ali Jelinek.
Additional crew included Alex Bartels, Nolan Reed-Mullikin, Alissa Mullikin, Crystal Krachey and Ben Krahn.
The Wauzeka-Steuben business education students, office staff and Middleton Players Theater also contributed to the production.
