Postville shut out both the MFL MarMac girls and boys soccer teams in a pair of matches in Monona on April 29.
In the girls game, the Pirates capitalized on a penalty kick at the 31-minute mark in the first half, scoring the lone goal in a 1-0 victory.
Postville jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half of the boys match, scoring the first goal 15 minutes before halftime when the ball deflected off Bulldog goalie Carsten Pester’s hands, then the goal post and into the net. The second score came with 8:30 remaining in the half. The Pirates tacked on two more goals in the second half, winning 4-0.
Pester recorded eight saves in the loss, while Postville keeper Zade Brock had one. Junior Brent Roe had MFL MarMac’s only shot on goal.
The week’s soccer action concluded on May 3, in a girls tournament at Richland Center, Wis., where the Bulldogs faced the host school as well as Portage. No scores were available at press time.
Two games are on the schedule for the MFL MarMac boys and girls this week: at Clayton Ridge May 5, then at New Hampton May 9.
