Another strong finish for Charlotte Meyer in the 1500-meter run highlighted the Upper Iowa Conference meet for the MFL MarMac girls track and field team. The freshman placed third in the event, contributing some of the 20 points the Bulldogs totaled. South Winneshiek won the conference title with a score of 183.

Fellow freshman Addison Corlett led MFL MarMac in the sprints, placing a respective sixth and seventh in the 100- and 200-meter dashes. Annaka McArthur raced to 14th in the 100, while Amelia Duffield earned 16th in the 200, then 10th in the 400. Audrey Ruff crossed the finish line 11th in the 800-meter run.

In the hurdling events, Corlett posted an eighth-place time in the 100-meter race. Lauryn Sandstrom placed eighth in the 400.

The Bulldogs turned in a sixth-place effort in the sprint medley, for their best relay of the night, then had a pair of seventh-place runs in the 4x100 and 4x200.

The field events included Isla Henkes in both the discus, where she was 13th, as well as the shot put, where she placed 15th. Brooklyn Tonn threw her way to 12th in the shot put, while Ruff took 14th in the discus.

The conference meet followed up an appearance at the Ed-Co Girls Invite on May 5, where MFL MarMac netted just eight points against a tough field.

Meyer battled to fourth in the 1500, then was 10th in the 800, ahead of teammate Ruff in 24th.

Sandstrom leapt to seventh in the 400 hurdles, and put up a 19th-place time in the 100-meter dash. McArthur was 23rd in that event as well as 30th in the 200. Other 200 runners included Lucille Kessler in 28th place and Duffield 29th. Duffield and Ruff were a respective 11th and 16th in the 400.

The Bulldogs finished 16th in the 4x100, their lone relay of the night.

Tonn led MFL MarMac in both the shot put and discus, securing 18th in the first event and 23rd in the latter. Henkes was 25th in the shot put and 32nd in the discus. Ruff also participated in the discus, ranking 28th.

This week, the Bulldogs head to the Class 2A state qualifying meet at Crestwood on May 15.
