Prairie du Chien Baseball entered their D3 regional semifinal at Cuba City last Wednesday, June 4 looking to build off the momentum of their regional opening win against Belleville the previous week and thanks to weather pushing the game back a day, the Hawks were able to put senior Bryce Lenzendorf back on the mound after his no-hitter against Belleville on Thursday, May 29.

Much like his pitching appearance against Belleville, Lenzendorf kept the Cuban batters off-balance all game as he allowed just one hit and zero runs through the first five innings of the game.

Unfortunately for the Hawks, his pitching counterpart Tyson Richard was also having a strong game on the mound for Cuba City, allowing no runs on just five hits through the first five innings.

The game turned in the bottom of the sixth inning. After Lenzendorf got the first two batters of the inning out, the Cubans managed to hit singles in their next two at bats to push Bryce to 100 pitches and chase him from the game. His brother Brady then went to the mound in relief but a two-out error by Prairie on the first batter he faced allowed Cuba City’s Frankie Welp to score the game's first run. Brady Lenzendorf got the next batter to fly out to right fielder Abe Amundson to get out of the inning.

Jack MacEachern started the top of the seventh with a single before Brennan Koecke sacrificed MacEachern to second base with only one out. Richard quickly answered by getting the Cubans out of the jam with a strikeout and a line out back to himself to close out the game as the Cubans ended the Hawks season with a 1-0 defeat.

The Hawks offense was held to six hits as a team with Drake Chesebro the only one with multiple hits in the game (2-for-3). Bryce Lenzendorf, Westin Marx, Jack Simmons and MacEachern accounted for the other four Prairie hits in the loss.

Bryce Lenzendorf suffered the tough luck loss, allowing just one run on three hits and five walks in 5.2 innings pitched. Brady allowed one hit in 0.1 innings pitched.

The Hawks conclude their 2025 season with an overall record of 9-13 and third in the Southwest Wisconsin Conference at 5-5 while the Cubans advanced to this week’s sectional round with a win at Dodgeville the following evening.

Prairie du Chien graduates six seniors in Amundson, Koecke, Brady Lenzendorf, Bryce Lenzendorf, MacEachern and Nick McCullick.
