April 1, 1932–May 12, 2025

Fred Hausler, age 93 of Wauzeka, passed away with his family by his side in La Crosse on Monday, May 12, 2025.

He was born on April 1, 1932 in Prairie du Chien to the late Herbert and Clara (Boldt) Hausler.

Fred married Ilene Schollian on Sept. 17, 1955 at Congregational Church in Lancaster, and they were blessed with 58 years together. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and remained active in veteran services throughout his life.

Fred was a longtime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Boscobel and a volunteer with Sugar Creek Bible Camp. He had a passion for horseback riding and enjoyed his trips out west with his horse, Rex. He was also an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and snowmobiling.

Fred was passionate about his community and giving back: he was in the American Legion serving as President, was a township board member, and was very involved volunteering with the La Riviere Horse Riders.

Fred is survived by his children Kurt Hausler of Wauzeka, Thomas (Nancy) Hausler of Guttenberg, Iowa, Philip (Ione) Hausler of Walsenberg, CO, Trish (Scott) Bruegmann of Steuben; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and special friend Mary Lenz of Wauzeka. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ilene Hausler, great-grandchildren Brevin Cooley, Camynn Bruegmann, and Ledgynn Bruegmann; along with his sister Marie Hausler.

The visitation for Fred will be held on Saturday, June 21, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Kendall Funeral Service, 209 Mary Street, Boscobel.

Fred will be laid to rest at the Bagley Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations to Sugar Creek Bible Camp or St John’s Lutheran Church are appreciated. Online condolences can be offered at www.kendallfuneralservice.com.
