It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kay Francis Miller Livingston, who left us peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2025, after her battle with kidney cancer.
Kay was the heart of our family—a woman whose kindness, strength and love touched everyone she met. She lived her life with quiet grace and a deep devotion to others, always putting the needs of her family and friends before her own. Her gentle spirit and unwavering generosity were constant.
Kay was born on Oct. 11, 1948, in Guttenberg, to Alphonse and Viola (Schellar) Winter Miller. Kay grew up in Guttenberg and worked through high school at Doug’s Steak House. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Guttenberg and began working at Wm. C. Brown Publishing Co. in Dubuque and then Hilton Homes in the accounting department. She married Ralph Livingston in August of 1969 and oversaw all operations of Livingston Lumber Company. After retiring, she enjoyed quilting, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.
Kay was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. She is survived by her children: Gwyn Livingston and her son, Jonathan; Michelle (Bryan) Fortino and their children, Giabella, Arianna and Emilia; Derrick (Megan) Livingston and their children, Estelle and Evelynn; and step-grandchildren, Bennett and Brynnlie; siblings, Rosalie Kickbush and Linda (Ron) Dietzenbach; and in-laws, Glenda Livingston and Steve Livingston.
She is preceded in death by her parents and stepfather, Phil Winter; parents-in-law, Robert and Burnette Livingston; her husband, Ralph Livingston; her brother, Alphonse Miller Jr.; and brother-in-law, Loris Kickbush.
Though our hearts ache at her loss, we take comfort in knowing that her faith, kindness, laughter and love will continue to guide us.
