City of Farmersburg voters will head to the polls on Tuesday, Dec. 2, for a runoff election to elect a council member.
Voters cast 31 votes in favor of Daniel Torkelson for one of two open seats on the council in the Nov. 4 city/school election. However, no other candidates were on the ballot and none received votes above the threshold for election—11 votes—for the second seat, according to the Clayton County Auditor’s Office.
A notice of runoff election published in this week’s Times-Register says Zach Chase will be on the Dec. 2 ballot for one council seat.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Dec. 2, at the Farmersburg Community Center, 4 E. Adams St. Absentee ballots are also available at the Clayton County Auditor’s Office in Elkader for in person voting through 4 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 1. The deadline to request an absentee ballot be mailed has passed.
