In the opening action of the 2025-2026 season, three MFL MarMac wrestlers placed at the Nov. 22 Decorah Fall Girls Tournament.

Kennedy Bachman was the tournament champion at 100 pounds. The junior pinned her way past Jasmin Roman from Postville, Emmalyn Chounlamany from Ottumwa and Ransom Mathis from Waukon to reach the title bout, where she edged Decorah’s Sophie Adams in a 3-2 decision.

Charlotte Koether was the runner-up at 135 pounds. Like Bachman, she secured falls in her first three matches versus Payton Kendrick of Ottumwa, Gaelar Nshangalume of Cedar Rapids Xavier and Adeline Ryan of Cedar Falls, then won a 9-4 decision over Ellie Adams from Decorah to reach the championship match. There, Destiny Hoeppner of Cedar Falls came out on top with a second period fall.

Freshman Aaliyah Corcoran competed well in her first high school competition, placing third at 105 pounds. Corcoran pinned Waukon’s Hailey Miller in less than a minute to open the tournament. She lost by fall to Brielle Starkweather from North Fayette Valley in match two, before closing out the day with pins over Liz Oldenkamp from Lake Mills and Haydn Francis from Ottumwa.

Several other Bulldogs—Ayla Ruff (120 pounds), Veda Torkelson (125), Lydia Abel (135), Bayleigh Wood (155), Isla Henkes (170), April Upton (190) and Hannah Jacobson (190)—wrestled hard but did not place on Saturday. Jacobson went 1-2, including a victory over Dynasti Carlyle from Cedar Falls in her second match. Ruff, Torkelson, Abel, Wood, Henkes and Upton were 0-2 in their matches.

MFL MarMac continued tournament action this week, at Midland on Nov. 25.
