W-S girls earn 44-27 win at Belmont

Competing in their first game in a week, the Wauzeka-Steuben girls basketball team earned a 44-27 non-conference win at Belmont last Friday, Dec. 12.

 

The Hornets were led in scoring by senior Isabella Bunders with 14 points. She also grabbed eight rebounds and had four assists in the win. Also scoring in double figures for W-S was fellow senior Macy Mitchell with 12 points and nine rebounds. 

 

Pulling down a team high 15 rebounds (11 of which came on defense) was senior Natalie Wright, who also added six points, three assists and three steals in the win. Junior Claire Wright added five points and five steals, while sophomore Hayley Mitchell (five points) and junior Violet Mitchell (two points) rounded out the Hornets scoring totals.

 

Wauzeka-Steuben improved to 3-1 overall with the victory while Belmont dropped to 3-4. 

 

Next up for the Hornets after last night’s conference opener at Weston/Ithaca is a home contest this Friday night against Kickapoo at 7:15 p.m.
