The Central boys basketball team is now 4-2 overall and 4-1 in the Upper Iowa Conference after convincing wins over MFL MarMac and North Fayette Valley last week.

The Warrior offense exploded against MFL MarMac on Dec. 16, making over 42 percent of shots from the field, including 11 three-pointers. They built a 36-24 lead by halftime and continued to roll out of the break. The 68-52 win was the first against the Bulldogs since 2018 and just the third for Central since 2009.

Mason Loan shot an impressive 50 percent from the field and hit three of four attempts from behind the arc, for nine of his team-high 17 points. The sophomore also led the Warriors with six assists and was among team leaders with six rebounds.

Senior Jake Hertrampf put up 15 points and was just shy of a double-double with nine rebounds. He dished out five assists and was responsible for one of Central’s two blocks.

Junior Owen Hammersland contributed 16 points, four rebounds and four assists, while sophomore Griffen Hammersland netted eight points, three rebounds, three steals and an assist. Senior Isaac Loan finished the game with six points, eight rebounds, four assists and a block.

Central’s success carried into Dec. 19, in a 56-37 victory over North Fayette Valley—a team that had also previously had their number. After a close start, the Warriors went on a 13-7 second quarter run to lead 27-19 by halftime. Similar to earlier in the week, they pulled away in the second half.

Isaac Loan had a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds and led the team with four steals. Hertrampf picked up 12 points, eight rebounds, two steals and an assist, along with both Warrior blocks. Owen Hammersland racked up 10 points—six of which came on three-pointers—as well as two rebounds, an assist and a steal. Mason Loan continued his strong week with eight points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals.

The Warriors closed out the 2025 portion of their schedule this week: at Starmont on Dec. 22 and at Kee on Dec. 23.
