The Prairie du Chien girls wrestling team traveled to MFL MarMac High School last Friday night, Dec. 19 to take part in the MFL MarMac Girls Scramble, which does not keep track of team scores.

The Hawks had one first place finisher in Aspen Gelo, who picked up victories over Riceville’s Tori Keonigs (via fall in 1:43) and Mally Linkenmeyer (via fall in 3:44. Earning second place finishes for the Hawks was Alyseia Schnitzler (2-1), Paytin Primmer (1-1) and Britney Petsche (1-1), while Rosalie Kossman (0-2), Kylee Langdon (0-2), Hannah Ingham (0-2) and Aleaha Wall (0-2) each placed third.

Like the boys team, the PdC girls wrestling team headed to Madison this past Saturday for the Badger State Invitational and placed 20th as a team out of 52 teams with 45.5 points. Though no Hawk finished in top six, Ingham managed to bounce back after an opening round loss to Mauston/Necedah’s Gabriella DiCosola by winning each her next four matches before falling in the consolation championship match at 126 pounds to DiCosola once again to lead the Hawks with a 4-2 record on the day. Finishing the day with 2-2 records was Gelo, Langdon, Petsche, Primmer, Schnitzler and Wall.

Prairie du Chien is back in action next Monday, Dec. 29 and Dec. 30 at the annual Bi-State Classic at the La Crosse Center.
