Zittergruen looks back on Vietnam

Sergeant Bill Zittergruen served in Vietnam from March 25, 1970 until Feb. 28, 1971. This photo was taken while he was in Vietnam.

This photo of Bill was taken in January 1970, just three months before he left for Vietnam.

Veteran Bill Zittergruen holds his weapon and sits on a chopper in Vietnam.

An Honor Flight photo montage shows pictures of Bill in Vietnam, honoring fallen soldiers at the memorial and a note from grandson William, thanking him for surviving and taking him fishing.

High school students explore ‘Driftless Area History and Lore’ through new class

MFL MarMac high school students are learning about history in their own backyard—or the tri-state region, at least—through a new Driftless Area History and Lore class. One unit focused on Driftless Area artists, and students created their own sand bottles after learning about famous McGregor sand artist Andrew Clemens. (Submitted photo)

The class has shared local ghost stories—debunking a few—and enjoyed a paranormal tour led by author and psychic Adrian Lee, based on Lee’s recent investigations in McGregor. (Photo by Audrey Posten)
