Leo Francis McNally, 104, of Monona, Iowa died Friday, September 21, 2018, at Garden View in Monona, Iowa. Leo Francis was born January 13, 1914 to Richard Eli and Flora (Zieglar) McNally in Postville, Iowa. He was baptized on January 17, 1914, at St. Peter’s Church in Clermont, Iowa by Rev. J.J. Hefuir. He received his education in the country school in Clayton County, known as Pixler School. Leo spent his younger years working as a hired hand for neighbors. In 1930 he went out to North and South Dakota and followed the harvest.

January 20, 1961 to September 8, 2018

Tracy Lee Kemling, age 57, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Saturday, September 8, 2018, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Tracy was born January 20, 1961 in Elkader, Iowa, the daughter of Paul Richard and Marginell (Breitsprecher) Hansel. She lived in Elkader until moving to Cedar Rapids where she attended school. She later received her GED while living in Duluth, Minnesota as well as her CNA certification. Tracy moved to Red Oak, Iowa, in 1984 and was a CNA at Murphy Memorial Hospital. She then worked at Parker Hannifin where she met Terry Kemling. They were united in marriage on July 2, 1994 in Omaha, Nebraska. Tracy then started working at Montgomery County Memorial Hospital and continued her studies earning her LPN Degree from Southwestern Community College in Creston. Tracy was a beautiful artist who enjoyed painting, doing crafts, gardening, and traveling.

Edward Wiedenman, 95, of Farmersburg, Iowa, died Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Elkader Care Center, Elkader, Iowa. Edward Kenneth was born June 28, 1923 to Fred and Christina (Lieuau) Wiedenman in rural Monona, Iowa. He was baptized on October 31, 1926, and confirmed on April 10, 1938, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Monona. Edward graduated from Luana High School in 1943. After working in Cedar Rapids, he returned home and began farming.

Edward was united in marriage with Mardella Kluth on January 17, 1949, at St. John Lutheran Church in Farmersburg, Iowa. He farmed until his retirement and moved to Farmersburg. Edward did lawn mowing and snow shoveling at St. John Lutheran Church for many years and also served on the church council.

Rachel M. Hoth, 97, died Sunday, September 16, 2018, at the Guttenberg Care Center. She was born December 8, 1920, the daughter of Lloyd and Mathilde (Mueller) Brownson in rural National, Iowa. Rachel grew up on the family farm that was homesteaded by her great-grandfather in 1849. In 2007, she received a plaque from the State of Iowa that the farm has been in the same family for over 160 years.

James Patrick “J.P.” Kellogg

James Patrick “J.P.” Kellogg, Sr., 89, of Strawberry Point, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2018, at the Strawberry Point Lutheran Home. He was born on January 23, 1929, in Strawberry Point, the sixth of 12 children born to Jack and Daisy (Farmer) Kellogg. J.P. graduated from Central Elkader High School in 1947. After high school, he served honorably in the U.S. Army.

On September 15, 1951, J.P. was united in marriage to Patricia Resor at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elkader. Five children were born to this union. J.P. was a lifelong resident of Clayton County. He worked as a television sales and service man for many years. Later in life, he worked at the Elkader Golf Course.

Ivan Ewald Hardt, 86, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa died Thursday, August 30th, 2018, at St. Luke’s Hospital. A service will be held at a later date at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids with interment at Garnavillo Cemetery
Survivors include his beloved wife, Doris; sons, Evan Hardt of Des Moines, and Brett(Julie) Hardt, Buffalo, MN; grandchildren, Aaron Shupert of Cedar Rapids, Bryce (Ashley) Hardt, Aviano Italy, Erik(Ashley) Hardt Grimes and Tristan Hardt, Buffalo, MN; nephew, Bob (Vickie) Hardt; niece Susan (Clarence) Pund; and great-grandchildren, Eiler Hardt, Grimes ,and Autumn and Eli Hardt, Aviano, Italy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marie and Ewald Hardt; his brothers, Harold Hardt and Aaron Hardt; and daughter, Monica Hardt.
Ivan was born June 6thh, 1932 in St. Olaf, Iowa.  He married his wife Doris on June 24th, 1954

Ruth Goings, 71, of Elkader, Iowa died Sunday, September 2, 2018, in the arms of her family. She was born October 5, 1946, in Charles City to Harry and Helen (Hinmon) Trepton. She grew up in Nashua, Iowa, in a loving family consisting of her parents, grandparents, sister, Mary Ellen, and brother, David. She graduated from Nashua Community High School in 1965.
In 1966, she married her high school sweetheart, Ken Goings. Ruth and Ken moved to Elkader in the winter of 1970, where Ken got a teaching job at Central Community School. They loved the community so much that they made it their permanent home. Ken and Ruth’s four children were their greatest joy and delight. All their life’s accomplishments pale in comparison to the importance that they placed on the raising of their children.

Dr. Douglas Roland Kuehl, age 52 of Borcay, Philippines, died August 13, 2018 at Cebu, Philippines in a drowning accident.

Doug was born February 5, 1966, in Prarie du Chien, WI to Verna Marie (Lantz) Kuehl and Richard Roland Kuehl. Doug was a 1984 graduate of Central Community High School. After graduation, Doug enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he earned the rank of corporal.
After serving his country, Doug enrolled at Palmer College of Chiropractic where he earned a doctor of chiropractic degree with honors. He moved to Henderson, NV and built a successful chiropractic practice there.
Doug enjoyed spending time on Lake Mead wake boarding and snow skiing in Park City, Utah and riding ATVs in the desert.

In 1997, Doug married DeAnna Kope, They were married for seven years.
