The seventh-seeded Prairie du Chien High School softball team beat visiting and 10th-seeded Viroqua 5-1 in Division 3 Regional action Thursday afternoon at Bluff View.

Prairie du Chien advanced to face host and second-seeded La Crosse Aquinas on May 21 at Pammel Creek Park. Aquinas had received a bye for their first round regional contest.

Wauzeka-Steuben beat visiting Weston 11-3 to clinch the Ridge and Valley Conference crown Monday afternoon.

Tabitha Check picked up the victory for the Lady Hornets. Check fanned 6 and walked 2 while giving up 3 hits in 7 innings.

Jordan Mormann smashed a home run as 1 of her 2 hits for the game. Alexis Wielepski, Peyton Mindham and Gabby Groom each had 2 hits.

Seneca’s Hunter Aspenson took second in the 100-meter dash Friday.

 

Wauzeka-Steuben, River Ridge, Seneca and Prairie du Chien competed in the Sparky Reynolds Invitational Track Meet Friday afternoon in Boscobel.

For the girls, River Ridge and Prairie du Chien tied for 12th with 29 team points. Seneca finished 20th with 7 points.

In the boys meet, Wauzeka-Steuben took eighth with 35 team points. River Ridge was 11th with 31. Prairie du Chien was 14th with 21. Seneca took 17th with 9.

Highland defeated host River Ridge 14-3 in high school baseball action Tuesday afternoon in Patch Grove.

On Monday, Belmont defeated visiting River Ridge 11-1.

The Braves scored 1 run in the first inning, 1 in the second, 2 in the third, and 7 in the fifth en route to the win.

The Prairie du Chien Blackhawk golf team played their final home match of the season on Thursday, hosting all of the SWC teams.

The match was played on the front nine at Prairie du Chien Country Club. 

Jaret Semanko led the Hawks by carding a 52, followed by Jack Peterson with a 55 and Collin Seeley with a 58. Cody Crusan and Logan Shedivy both shot 76 for a 241 varsity team score. Shaun Downey had a 79 in junior varsity play.

River Ridge easily defeated visiting Benton-Shullsburg 11-1 in six innings Monday afternoon in high school softball action.

The Lady Timberwolves scored 3 runs in the bottom of the first inning, 2 in the second, 1 in the third, 2 in the fifth and 3 in the sixth en route to the victory.

Benton-Shullsburg scored their lone run in the top of the fifth inning.

River Ridge hosted the Timberwolf Invitational Friday afternoon in Bloomington.

River Ridge won the boys meet with 163 points. Wauzeka-Steuben was second with 107. Seneca was fifth with 30. The River Ridge JV was seventh with 29 and Prairie du Chien was ninth with 22.

River Ridge won the girls meet with 183.5. Wauzeka-Steuben was sixth with 48. Seneca was eighth with 30. Prairie du Chien was ninth with 19 and River Ridge JV was 12th with 5.
