The Class 1A - District 5 all-district teams include 10 MFL MarMac football players. Kashton Decker and Will Howes were first team offense selections, while Eli Hanson and Hunter Christofferson were named to the first team defense. Bryce Jones is on the second team offense, then Tristan Hoopes, Blake Schutte and Kyler Nuehring on the second team defense. Cameron Hagensick and Auston Lind were honorable mention picks.
MFL MarMac junior Lily Johnson has been named second team all-conference in the Upper Iowa Conference large school division for the 2025 volleyball season.
Five Central volleyball players have earned all-conference honors in the Upper Iowa Conference’s small school division. Brylee Erickson, Katie Royer and Alivia Wiley were named to the first team, while Oakley Armstrong and Ella Frieden were second team picks.
Haleisa (Krause) Johnson, age 67, of Strawberry Point, passed away on Oct. 31, 2025, in the comfort of hospice. Haleisa lived a full and healthy life until her sudden cancer diagnosis in September 2025. Though her time after diagnosis was brief, she was at peace, surrounded by the love of her family and friends.
Nancy Belle Taylor Gull died peacefully on Sunday, Nov. 2, 2025, at the Tower Living Center in Garnavillo at 100 years of age. Nancy was born Oct. 7, 1925, in Hartford, Conn., the daughter of William H. Taylor and Alice (Janes) Taylor.

Kent Dean Klingman, 61, of Volga, passed away Monday, Oct. 27, 2025, at MercyOne in Waterloo. He was born Aug. 2, 1964, in Vinton, to Lyle and Karon (Buhr) Klingman.
Micah Gearhart, his wife Alyssa and their four kids “fell in love” with living in northeast Iowa when he began at North Fayette Valley 11 years ago.
