Beatrice Whiting obit

Beatrice L. “Betty” Whiting, age 89, of Lancaster, Wisconsin, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 16, 2026, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster.

She was born Dec. 18, 1936, the daughter of William and Margaret (Geble) Hueston in Chicago, Illinois. Betty devoted herself to raising her children while working on the farm. She also spent time waitressing at Minnie’s Café, where her warm personality and friendly nature was shown. Later, Betty married Edwin Whiting. After retirement, Betty enjoyed working at the Bargain Boutique, where she continued to stay active and connect with others. A true social butterfly, she loved dancing, crocheting, fishing, and, most of all, spending time with her children and grandchildren. Betty’s caring nature extended far beyond her own family. She was not only a loving mother to her children, but also a mother figure to many of the children in the neighborhood. She had a playful spirit and was truly a child at heart.

She is survived by her children: Fred, Dave (Wanda), Danny, Mike (Robin), and Joe (Heather) Schroeder; grandchildren: Ally, Emmy, Bob, Jeromy, Lynn, Jill and Zach; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; siblings: Judy Hayden and Jim Schroeder; nieces, nephews and friends.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edwin; daughter, Angela; and son, Timothy.
