Charles “Chuck” DuCharme Sr.

Charles “Chuck” DuCharme Sr., 89, passed away peacefully of natural causes. A resident of Prairie du Chien, and Mesa, Ariz., Chuck was a tough, hardworking man, a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was the ultimate memory maker who truly epitomized the saying, “Work Hard, Play Hard.”

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley (Nagle) DuCharme; his parents, Irving and Edna (Walters) DuCharme; and his older siblings, Delores Cooley, Clifford DuCharme, and John DuCharme.

He is survived by his beloved children, Charles (Catherine), Steven (Angela), Michelle (Gary), and Richard (Linda); nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his youngest brother, Irving Jr. (Carol) DuCharme.

Chuck was the ultimate DIYer who designed the family home from scratch and taught his children how to build it from the foundation to the roof. When he wasn’t working with his hands, he was embracing the outdoors. Chuck loved nothing more than hunting, fishing, trapping, and sitting by a campfire. He was just as content bidding at auctions, woodworking, throwing horseshoes, playing cards, or grilling with a cold beer while cheering on his beloved Green Bay Packers. A jovial and social spirit, he always brought smiles to his family and friends, and he will be greatly missed by his adoring family. May he rest in peace.

A joint celebration of life for Chuck and Shirley will be scheduled in Prairie du Chien this fall.
