Sandra Kay (Gabrielson) Ready, 78, of Platte, SD, and a long-time resident of Eastman, WI, went to be with her Savior on Sunday, August 23, 2026, surrounded by family at her home in Platte, SD, following a battle with metastatic breast cancer.
Sandra (Sandy) was born to Alfred and Ardythe Gabrielson on June 23, 1948. Sandy grew up near Platte, South Dakota with her sister Cheryl (Cherry).
As a young girl, Sandy made the most important decision of her life when she accepted Christ as her Savior. This decision was made after hearing at a Vacation Bible School and from her mother about Jesus’ death for her sins, His burial, and His resurrection. Sandy graduated from Platte High School in 1966 and went on to study at Dakota Wesleyan University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1971.
After graduation, Sandy moved to Prairie du Chien, WI, where she taught for 7 years at Prairie du Chien High School. She taught classes such as bookkeeping, accounting, typing, and English. While teaching in Wisconsin, she met Kendal Ready at Eastman Wesleyan Church where she attended. They were married on November 19, 1977.
In 1978, Sandy left teaching to stay at home as a mother and homemaker. Sandy faithfully worked alongside her husband on their dairy farm in Eastman, WI, where they raised their five children. She was a loving, giving, and compassionate mother who, along with her husband taught their children about God’s salvation, putting God first, and living with integrity. Throughout her years at Eastman Wesleyan Church, Sandy faithfully served as a Sunday school teacher and the church treasurer. Sandy enjoyed sewing things for her children and grandchildren, cooking, baking, canning, and gardening. She always enjoyed trying new things. After Sandy and Kendal’s retirement from dairy farming, Sandy returned to Platte, SD, along with her husband, to help care for her father. She greatly enjoyed being able to spend more time with her sister Cherry and her family.
Sandy is survived by her husband Kendal Ready; children: Janelle Ready of Kathmandu, Nepal; Angela (Darren) Roberts, of Lake Odessa, MI; Ryan (Kathleen) Ready, of Moscow, ID; LaVonne (Eric) Burkholder of Edmond, OK; and Dustin (Shannon) Ready of Eastman, WI; sister Cheryl (Junior) VanDusseldorp of Platte, SD; along with 27 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild; and 12 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Ardythe Gabrielson, and her husband’s parents, Lyle and Marie Ready. Platte, SD, Funeral Arrangements
