Arthur W. “Art” Carl, 83, of Beloit, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2026 at home surrounded by his family after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on Aug. 22, 1942 in Prairie du Chien, the son of Oscar and Leona (Zable) Carl. Art was a 1960 Prairie du Chien High School graduate. During his high school career, he made it into the Hall of Fame for Track. He then graduated from the University of Wisconsin Madison Pharmacy School in 1965; where he was active in the Pharmaceutical Society. Art married Kathryn Welter and together had three children. He later married Kathleen Ensley on Dec. 26, 1980 in Sun Valley Presbyterian Church of Beloit.
Art was a partner and pharmacist at Grand Ave. Pharmacy in Beloit for four decades until his retirement in 2006. His wife, Kathy worked by his side as a pharmacy tech. He was a former member of Saint Gabrielle’s Catholic Church in Prairie Du Chien and an active family member and volunteer of Sun Valley Presbyterian Church in Beloit. Art was a member of the Westside Businessman’s Association and the Ostomy Association. He was an avid Wisconsin Badger and Green Bay Packer fan. Art and Kathy enjoyed traveling and going for long hikes at Big Hills Park in Beloit as well as numerous national and state parks. He was a proud UW Alumni and big supporter. Art cherished spending time with his family and will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy; blended family, Connie (Greg) Johnson, Kelly Kronenberg, Lisa (Robert) Williams, Jennifer (Tigh) Calhoun, and Dave (Molly) Carl; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Richard (Kay) Carl; sister, Shirley Cipra; sister-in-law, Sharon (Chuck) Belding; brother-in-law, Michael Ensley; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Art was predeceased by his parents and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Don Cipra, Carol Ensley, Charles Lotti, Bonnie Murphy, Sally Stoppel, and David Ensley.
A Funeral Service for Art was held. Inurnment will be held in East Lawn Cemetery at a later date. Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Rd., Beloit, assisted the family with arrangements.
Memorials may be made in his name to Beloit Regional Hospice or Sun Valley Presbyterian Church.
