Mark John Cherrier, 71, of Prairie du Chien, formerly of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Aug. 5, 2026, at Dunlap Specialty Care, surrounded by those he loved. A celebration of Mark’s life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.
Mark was born on July 29, 1955, in Prairie du Chien, to Robert and Ila (DuCharme) Cherrier. He moved to Sioux City, Iowa, where he met and married Susan Hanson in November 1977. Together, they had three beautiful daughters: Lynette, Michelle, and Amanda. Mark worked at a local packing plant, Jolly Time Popcorn, and the Sioux City Transportation Center. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, nature, mushroom hunting, and spending time outdoors.
Those left to honor his memory include his daughters, Lynette (Brandon Welter) Cherrier, Michelle (Jeffrey) Gibson, and Amanda (Carl) Vandenberg; grandchildren, Kalie, Marley, John, Josh, Tony, Autumn, and Emma; great-grandson, Beau; and his twin sister, Dale Crubel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and a sister.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Dunlap Specialty Care and St. Croix Hospice for their kindness, compassion, and care shown to Mark. Mark will be remembered with love and missed deeply by his family and all who knew him.
