With 207 points and first-place finishes in five events, the River Ridge boys’ track and field team took top honors at last Friday’s Timberwolf Invite, while the River Ridge girls finished second with 176 team points.
River Ridge senior Luke Breuer and junior Kameren Reynolds were both triple-event winners Friday night, Breuer finishing first in the 200 (:23.47) and long jump (18’7.25”), and Reynolds taking top honors in the 100 (:11.57) and triple jump (39’4.5”). The two also teamed up with Ren Bowen and Lane Copsey to win the 4x200 (1:35.08), as well as set a new meet record in the event.
Senior Mason Pecinovsky was the team’s only other top finisher, winning the 3200 with a time of 14:09.07.
Second-place finishes for the River Ridge boys went to Bowen in the 200 (:24.78) and pole vault (13’0”), Colton Kirschbaum in the 3200 (15:15.65), Colton Crubel in the 110 hurdles (:20.00) and 300 hurdles (:48.27), Brock Bunge in the high jump (5’4”), Lane Copsey in the long jump (18’2.25”) and Eli Hamilton in the shot put (39’6.5”). The Timberwolves also finished second in the 4x100 (:47.15) and 4x800 (11:48.60) relays.
The River Ridge girls were led by sophomore Ava Nies, who finished first in the 300 hurdles (:51.61) and second in the 100 (:13.53), 200 (:27.83) and the triple jump (32’3”).
Junior Leah Patterson was a second-place finisher in the 800 (2:48.26), the 1600 (6:09.51) and the 3200 (14:12.28), while sophomore Eden Thornton was second in the 400 (1:07.58) and junior McKenzie Taylor second in the pole vault (8’6”).
The Timberwolves also finished second in the 4x200 (2:00.74) and the 4x400 (4:47.77) relays.
