The Seneca Track team competed in a pair of meets last week. First up for the Royals was the Viroqua Invitational last Monday, May 11. Seneca finished in eighth place out of 15 teams with 39.0 points on the boys side, while the girls team was 15th with no points. Sophomore Aidan Payne kept up his strong season so far by placing first in the 110 meter hurdles and high jump events. Seneca got top-10 finishes in these events -
Boys 200 Meter Dash - 5. Aidan Payne (24.62).
Boys 110 Meter Hurdles - 1. Payne (16.11) and 6. Reid Hamann (22.69).
Boys 300 Meter Hurdles - 3. Payne (42.65) and 10. Hamann (53.36).
Boys 4x100 Meter Relay - 4. Scott Brown, Richard Cable, Jonathan Morrick-Brouillette and Gavyn Wilkins (47.97).
Boys High Jump - 1. Payne (6-02.00).
Boys Long Jump - 10. Brown (17-03.00).
Boys Triple Jump - 9. Hamann (32-06.75).
The Royals ended the week by traveling to Boscobel for the annual Sparky Reynolds Invitational last Friday, May 15. The boys team was 19th out of 23 teams with 12.0 points while the Seneca girls were 23rd with no points. The Royals got top ten finishes in these events -
Boys 110 Meter Hurdles - 3. Payne (16.22).
Boys 300 Meter Hurdles - 6. Payne (42.84).
Boys High Jump - 6. Payne (J6-00.00).
The Royals finished their regular season schedule this past Tuesday at the Ridge & Valley Conference Championship Meet at Kickapoo High School. The Royals will begin the postseason at the D3 River Ridge Regional Meet next Tuesday, May 26.
