Ross Arden Bushnell, age 89 of Prairie du Chien passed away Friday, Sept. 11, 2026, at Prairie Maison in Prairie du Chien.

He was born on Sept. 29, 1936, to Charles and Frances (Millin) Bushnell.

He married Theresa Moris on Aug. 1, 1956, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Patch Grove. Ross worked for the Wisconsin Southern Gas Company for 38 years until retirement.

Over the years, Ross was involved with the Prairie du Chien Jaycee’s, Eagle’s Club, city council, and booster club. Ross was an avid fan of the Milwaukee Brewers and the Green Bay Packers. He enjoyed traveling the Midwest and occasionally trying his hand at the casino.

Growing up with his aunts and uncles in the same house, they became like siblings to him. He was always quick witted and had a good sense of humor. Ross’s wife Theresa preceded him in death on March 25, 2017.

He is survived by his children Tamara (Mark) Otteson, Becky (Robin) Walters, Randy (Jane) Bushnell, Janet (Randy) Vedvik, Brian (Liz) Bushnell, and Elizabeth (Rob) Bremmer; sister Charlene (Paul “Lefty”) Osterhaus; sister-in-law Susie Boldt; brothers-in-law Gerald “Toby” (Scherrie) Moris and Larry (Judy) Moris; 15 grandchildren 22 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Memorial Service will be Thursday, Sept. 24, at 1 p.m. at the Garrity Funeral Home Chapel, Fr. Brandon Guenther officiating, with interment in the Calvary Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service, where an Eagle’s Club Tribute will be held at 12:45 p.m. In Ross’s honor, his family invites those attending to wear their favorite Brewers or Packers attire.
